What model iPhone do I have?
With the many new series of iPhones, it is no longer always possible to see from the appearance of your device which type of iPhone you have. However, it can sometimes be useful to know which iPhone you have. For example, this can come in handy if you want to sell your iPhone, buy a new case or if you want to know if an app or new software update is compatible with your device. Fortunately, there are several ways to find out which iPhone you have.
Check model via settings
Perhaps the easiest way to find out which iPhone you have is through the Settings app. This is especially applicable to newer models.
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone
- Click on your name/ Apple ID at the top of the page
- If you scroll down you will see an overview of your Apple devices. Under the name of the device is the type of iPhone.
Via the A-number
You can also check which iPhone you have by using the A-number. This consists of an A followed by four numbers. In the table of iPhone model numbers you can easily find the type of iPhone you have. You can find the A-number in two ways:
Through the settings
- Open the Settings app
- Click on 'General' and then on 'Info'
- Then you can click on 'Model number'. The series of numbers and letters will then change to an A with four numbers behind it.
- You can use this number to find your iPhone model. See the iPhone model number table for this.
On the back
This model number (A with four digits) can also be found on the back of your iPhone box. If you have an iPhone from 2016 or one that was made earlier (iPhone 7 or earlier), you can also find the model number on the back of the device.
