We start by looking at the design between both models, here there is only little difference to be seen. Both models have the same dimensions and edges (not counting the Xs Max ). Under the hood
As soon as we dive a little deeper into the smartphones, we see that the Xs has an improved A12 processor. This improvement is 15% faster than the previous version. This difference is not very big and will not even be noticeable to most people. It is nice that the new chip is more energy efficient, which means that the Xs can go 30 minutes longer without charging. What is a lot more interesting is the improved Neural Engine. Sounds nice and all, but what does it actually do? Well, it allows you to search for photos better, it is also useful when using advanced applications and it also makes Face ID work a lot faster. These upgrades may not be necessary for everyone, but perhaps you are someone who will benefit greatly from them.
Camera upgrades
If you like to be a photographer, the iPhone Xs is clearly the better choice. Both have a dual 12 megapixel camera, but the Xs has received a lot of software upgrades. You will notice this, among other things, when taking portrait photos. You can now adjust how much blur you want in the background. Furthermore, the difference between person and background has been improved, the person is sharp in the picture and the background can be blurred more. What you also get with the iPhone Xs is Smart HDR. With this function, multiple photos are taken at the same time as you take a photo so that the technology can choose the best color combination for the final image.
Other details
We've just discussed the biggest differences, but there are also a few small differences to be seen. For example, the iPhone X comes with 64GB and 256GB of storage, while the Xs is also available with 512GB. We also see that the iPhone Xs comes with 4GB of RAM, which allows apps to start up faster and you can switch between apps more smoothly than with 3GB of RAM (from the X). The speakers on the Xs have also been upgraded, allowing you to hear wider stereo sound. Finally, we see that the Xs is more water resistant than the X and that the iPhone Xs has an extra SIM card slot if you have two numbers.
