Are you looking for the differences between the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 ? Then look no further. We have taken a close look at both models for you. We have described our findings below, so that you will hopefully have no questions about the difference between the two models afterwards.
Looks
To kick off, we start by looking at the design. What is striking is that there are actually few differences and more similarities. Both models have a 4.7 inch screen and both iPhones have the iconic design that we are used to from Apple. Where do we see a difference? If we look closely at the casing, we see that the iPhone 7 is made of aluminum and the iPhone 8 has a glass back that is connected to the aluminum edge. Both models are also not available in the same colors. The iPhone 7 is available in five colors (Rose Gold - Black - Silver - Gold - Jet Black) and the iPhone 8 only in three colors (Space Gray - Silver - Gold).
Display
As soon as we look further at the screen, we again see almost no difference. As discussed, the screen sizes are the same. Furthermore, they both have an LCD screen and the resolution is the same. What we do see is a small point in favor of the iPhone 8. The 8 has received TrueTone. This allows the colors to adapt so that you get a beautiful screen display in every light condition. However, this is the only difference we see in terms of screen between the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8, but it is an upgrade that we think is very nice to have.
Camera
In the camera comparison we see considerably more differences. Both models do have a 12-megapixel camera, but despite that there are small upgrades to be found in the iPhone 8. For example, we see that the sensor of the iPhone 8 has been improved, so that you can record more light in low-light situations. You can also take sharper photos of moving objects thanks to the upgrade of the image stabilizer. In short, the camera of the iPhone 8 is a little bit better, but these are not groundbreaking upgrades.
Under the hood
When we look at the processors, we see one of the biggest differences in this comparison. The iPhone 7 is equipped with an A10 Fusion chip and the iPhone with an A11 Bionic chip. There are quite a few differences between these two chips. According to Apple, the chip in the iPhone 8 is no less than 70% faster, more powerful and more energy-efficient. The iPhone 8 is therefore better at performing heavier tasks, which you will notice with the augmented reality application and when playing the latest games. The battery also lasts a bit longer with the iPhone 8, because the A11 chip is able to switch off processor cores as soon as they are not needed. Ultimately, you can get along fine with both processors, it just comes down to how much you want to get out of your iPhone.
Final verdict
Okay, that was almost all the points. What we still want to mention is that the iPhone 8 is the only one of the bunch that can be charged wirelessly. And that the iPhone 7 comes with 32, 128 or 256 GB of storage, while the 32 GB option has disappeared from the iPhone 8. This will not be a problem for most people, because nowadays 32 GB is a bit on the low side.
To summarize, the differences are not huge, but we can conclude that the iPhone 8 is a bit better. The iPhone 8 is a bit faster, has a better camera and has TrueTone. Of course, the iPhone 8 is a bit more expensive, but hopefully you are now able to weigh up whether this is worth it.
