latest iphone

In September 2021, Apple presented its new line of iPhones . Just like last year, four different models were announced: the iPhone 13, the iPhone 13 Mini, the iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max . But what are the differences and similarities between these four different models? In this article we will explain it to you! We are happy to help you choose your new smartphone!

The screen

The biggest difference between the four different iPhone variants is the size of the screen. As the name suggests, the iPhone 13 Mini is the smallest iPhone in this series. With its 5.4-inch (13.7cm) screen diameter, it is a very compact smartphone model. The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro have the same screen size again this year, namely 6.1-inch (15.5cm) in diameter. The iPhone 13 Pro Max is not called the Max model for nothing, it is the largest iPhone of 2021. This largest and most expensive variant has a screen diameter of 6.7-inch (17cm).

All new iPhone models feature a Super Retina XDR display. However, Apple has added a new feature to the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max: ProMotion. ProMotion ensures that your phone always uses the optimal number of frames per second. For example, you can play games on the iPhone 13 Pro at 120 frames per second, while on the iPhone 13 this is only possible at 60 frames per second. Thanks to ProMotion, the image on your iPhone looks better than ever before.

The cameras

Another part of the iPhones that you immediately notice when you first look at the different models; the cameras. The iPhone 13 and the 13 Mini both have two cameras; a wide-angle and an ultra-wide-angle camera. The Pro models also have an extra camera; a telephoto lens. This allows the Pro models to use 6x optical zoom, while the standard model and the Mini only have 2x optical zoom. This allows a Pro model to zoom in up to 3x further than the normal iPhone 13.

Both the dual-camera system in the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini, and the pro camera system in the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max have 12 megapixels. This may not sound like much compared to other devices that already have 100+ megapixels. But 12 MP is perfect for the photos you want to take with your iPhone. More megapixels does not equal better photos. More megapixels actually only means a higher resolution photo, but the quality of the photo often deteriorates with a very high number of megapixels. Apple has therefore chosen to put the quality of the photos above the resolution and you can see that immediately in the photos taken with the iPhone 13.

What's in it?

The processor

Finally, it's time to take a look under the hood of the different iPhones. Each variant of the iPhone 13 runs on Apple's latest chip: the A15 Bionic. This is a 6-core CPU with a 16-core Neural Engine. The Pro variants do have a 5-core GPU, where the 13 and 13 Mini "only" have a 4-core GPU. This extra core in the GPU will mainly be for the use of ProMotion, which will allow the Pro to perform better while playing a game, for example.

The battery

There is also a significant difference between the four different iPhones in terms of battery life. The iPhone Mini has, of course, the smallest battery. The battery of the Mini is good for about 17 hours of video playback. The iPhone 13 has a slightly larger battery, on which you can watch up to 19 hours of videos. The 13 Pro has the ability to play up to 22 hours of video and the iPhone 13 Pro Max has, of course, the largest battery. On this model you can play up to 28 hours of video on a single battery charge.

Storage space

All iPhone models have different options regarding storage capacity. Each model has a minimum of 128GB of storage space. For the iPhone 13 and 13 Mini, you can then choose 256GB or 512GB. The Pro models have one additional option. For the first time, Apple has produced iPhones with 1TB of storage capacity. If you want to have a lot of photos, videos, apps and games on your iPhone, it is best to choose a Pro model with 1TB of storage capacity.

Below we have listed all the differences and similarities between the various iPhones. Very clear!
