The lovely sun is shining again, flowers are blooming, leaves are growing again and the birds are whistling away again. It is officially spring today! While I am writing this blog post, a lovely sun is shining on my back. Who wouldn't feel a lot happier when this happens? I also realize that it is time to thoroughly clean out my closet and who knows, I might even spontaneously feel like tackling the entire house. That is also what spring is known for, the big spring cleaning.
Your iPhone or iPad can also use a 'spring cleaning' every now and then, trust me, it is really necessary! Apps that you no longer use, pocket photos and months-old messages. Who doesn't know it? This not only takes up unnecessary space, but it also often looks unkempt. Time to give your iPhone a good overhaul! With these five tips, your iPhone will be clean in no time.
1. Back it up
Backing up your iPhone is a must. Should your iPhone ever get damaged, lost or do you want to replace your current iPhone with a new one? Then you can be sure that you will never lose photos, contacts or settings. Does your iPhone not automatically make a backup? Then turn this on in the iCloud settings.
2. Delete and sort apps
Every now and then there is a real app hype. Think of Candy Crush, Wordfeud, Draw it and Songpop2. After the hype has blown over, the apps remain on your iPhone for months. Have you not or hardly used an app in the past three months? Then you can definitely do without the app on your iPhone. It also saves some space! Press the app until it starts to wobble. Then press the cross to delete the app . How easy is that?! Tip: Want to create order? Place apps that are related to each other in a folder. This looks a lot clearer.
3. Delete
For most of us, it is a habit not to delete old photos and videos. But how often do you still use those old photos ? Your profile picture should remain up-to-date. You do not have to delete them permanently. Put the photos and videos on a permanent computer. Delete the photos from your phone. This way you have more space for new photos. The same goes for WhatsApp messages and texts that you never look at again! This way you don't have to scroll through a very long list of open conversations.
4. Cache
It is useful to delete the cache from your iPhone orMacbook every now and then. This also applies to your iPhone. This makes the app work a little faster and, there you have it again, some more space is freed up on your iPhone! You can delete the cache by going to Settings> Safari > Advanced> Clear History and Website Data.
5. Spic & span
Last but not least: clean the outside of your iPhone. You and your iPhone are inseparable and you take it everywhere with you. Even to the toilet. You touch the device very often. You probably know where we are going with this: the touchscreen of your smartphone contains on average more bacteria than the doors and flush buttons of public toilets. Yikes! Time to give the outside a good cleaning, don't you think? The first step is actually quite logical. Are the Lightning cable or your earphones connected? Remove them before you start. Apple advises to gently clean the iPhone (or iPad ) with a lint-free cloth that is slightly damp. Apple advises against using household cleaners, window cleaners, aerosol sprays, alcohol, etc. This is because it can damage your screen or cause scratches. Now you are really ready for spring. And your iPhone too! :-)
