Of course, binge-watching your favorite series or daydreaming to a great playlist is very relaxing, but exercise is also very important. Especially now that we are indoors more often and spend our time sitting or slouching, enough exercise will help you feel better. Exercise is good for both body and mind! But we understand that this is not always easy. Is your gym or sports club closed? Or do you, like many others, simply not feel like going? Then exercising at home with your smartphone as a personal trainer is the solution for you! That is why we have listed a few super handy sports apps for you, so that you can choose what suits you best and get started right away (or a little later).
1. Apple Health App
With the Apple Health App , which comes standard on your Apple device, you can view and collect all kinds of health and fitness data. Within the app, four main themes are distinguished: Activity, Mindfulness, Nutrition and Sleep. Before this app was available, all this data was collected separately on different apps, but now everything is clearly arranged together. With the Health app you can, for example, check your sleeping behavior, view your calorie burn or count your steps. You can connect this app to other apps, such as Strava, or to accessories, such as a scale or your Apple Watch . With this way of self-tracking you can become a better version of yourself.
2. Strava
This app is one of the most popular to track your sports performance via GPS. The app is mainly used for walking, running and cycling, but can be used for many more sports, such as swimming, skating and skiing. You can easily track your activity yourself with your connected sports watch or bike computer. Strava has grown into a social media channel for athletes in which you can also share your sports performance, routes or locations with others. This way you never exercise alone.
3. Seven Minute Workout
]This app has been around for a long time and is one of the most used fitness apps worldwide. The concept of this app is that you do an intensive workout of seven minutes every day. Ideal if you have little time. Research shows that these intensive seven minutes have the same positive effect as an hour of moderate exercise. In these seven minutes you do twelve exercises, with which you work all major muscle groups. You can easily see your progress and there are no complicated training schedules.
4. Nike Training club
This app developed by Nike has a varied fitness program, with many different exercises. You can choose your goals yourself and the app will compile personal workouts for you. During these workouts you will receive instructions from a trainer, who will demonstrate step-by-step how to perform the exercises. You perform the exercises for a certain time or a number of repetitions. During the workout you can listen to matching music for more motivation.
A few tips from us:
- Make sure you schedule your workout in your calendar, you'll be more likely to actually work out at home.
- Clear enough space in your house (or garden) so you can do what you want. It would be a shame if you bodychecked your large houseplant to the ground.
- For some workouts you need attributes such as a skipping rope or weights. Check in advance what you need, so that you can purchase this. It is always useful to buy a fitness mat, you will need it often. You can also imitate light weights with bottles of water.
And most importantly: build it up slowly and have fun! 💪 😃
