Customize iPhone Home Screen: Make It Your Own with leapp!

customize iphone home screen

Do you also always download all the coolest, newest apps? And then you don't use half of them anymore? Then your home screen is probably ready for a cleanup. With these tips you can easily clean up your home screen.

Your iPhone ’s home screen is the first thing you see when you unlock your device. It’s your personal dashboard, filled with the apps and widgets you use every day. But how do you organize all of these apps in a way that works for you? How do you customize the wallpaper to make your home screen more personal? And how do you make sure you can quickly and efficiently find the apps you need?

1 Remove apps you don't use

  • Everyone always has a few apps that you used a few times in the beginning on your iPhone or iPad , but then completely forgot about. These apps take up unnecessary space and are often better thrown away right away.
  • Any app you delete now can always be restored later by redownloading it.
  • If you want to delete an app, long-press the icon on your home screen. You will see a shortcut menu with the option 'Delete app'. If you want to delete more than one at once, long-press the app until a cross appears. Then press it and delete the app.

2 Organize your apps

  • You can now arrange the remaining apps. Press and hold the apps briefly until they start to vibrate and a cross appears. Now drag them to another place.
  • Have you downloaded multiple apps, so that you have multiple screens filled with apps? Then put your most used apps on the first screen. And if you are right-handed, then put your most used apps mainly at the bottom right of the screen (and for left-handed people, bottom left). That way you can get to them faster and easier!

3 Put your apps in folders

  • Are 3 or more screens filled with apps? Then organize the apps in different folders. You create a folder by placing 1 app on another app and releasing it there. These 2 apps are now both in the same new folder.
  • Want to change the name of the folder? Then open the folder and press and hold the name at the top.
  • How you organize your folders is entirely up to you. For example, you can create folders per category (e.g. social, gaming, shopping). But you can also choose to put them by color. It looks nice and tidy. Only whether you can quickly find that one app again...?

4 Back to standard layout

  • You can also do a proper cleanup by going back to the default layout. This way, all your apps will be kept, but they will be put back in the order you downloaded them. You can do this by following these steps:
  1. 1 - Go to your 'Settings' app and go to 'General'
  2. 2 - Select 'Reset'
  3. 3 - Choose 'Restore Home Screen Layout'
  4. 4 - Select 'Restore Home Screen'
  • Now you can start organizing them all (delete/move/put them in folders).

5 Choose a calm background image

  • When your background image is a busy image, your screen often immediately seems very busy. For a tidy image, it is best to choose a single-colored background. For example, Google your favorite color and save the first image as a photo.
  • To use this photo as a background, follow these steps:
  • 1 - Go to your 'Settings' app and go to 'Background'
  • 2 - Click on 'Choose a new background'
  • 3 - Select the relevant photo from your photos
  • 4 - Move and resize as needed
  • 5 - Click on 'Set' and select 'Home screen'

  • Start by grouping similar apps into folders. For example, you could put all your social media apps in one folder, your work-related apps in another, and so on.
  • Move the apps you use most to the bottom of your screen. This makes them easier to reach with your thumb.
  • Remove unused apps from your home screen. This will not only free up space but also reduce visual clutter.
